Ged Kearney - contemporary artist
I have been producing art since childhood - which, for me, means the 1960s. I qualified with a Fine Art BA (Hons.) in 1984 and a PGCE shortly after.
Typically I find inspiration in the beauty of the natural world, the effect and form of light and movement, and the power, potential or position of individuals.

For approximately 40 years I've been working in Health and Social Care Services whilst painting and producing creative works in 'down-time' but more recently I have been able to give a greater focus to the creation of the works you can view on this site.
I paint mainly in oils on stretched canvas or canvas boards/sheets but also enjoy the use of soft pastels and the process of observational studies drawn in pencil and charcoal.

Each piece is an attempted communication - sometimes I'm keen to capture or highlight a movement, shape or interaction whilst at other times there may be an attempt to express an emotion, interpretation or memory. Often it will be a combination of these but essentially each image is simply a doorway to your own personal response.

If that's an experience that you're glad you had - success!
